To the second guy, don't give up on yourself. I switched over to a desk job a few years back and put on about thirty pounds since I wasn't as active as I was in my other job, and recently I hated how I was looking and decided to hop on my treadmill every weekday for thirty to forty-five minutes and do some high speed walking, cut back on my portions, and focused on eating more fruits and healthier protein options. I still have my bad snacks, but in smaller doses and from time to time, not every day. I dropped five pounds in like two weeks - and that was during a period when my workouts were spotty. The little things go a long way, make a huge difference, and don't take a ton of time and effort to do. You can do it, too, my guy! EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm a woman who deals with a hormone condition, so losing weight has always been a struggle for me, too. It's doable, though!

I don't get this "There's no new lore" stuff. Novels expanding the universe exist and are still coming out. I get it that you have to peddle to the lowest common denominator but be somewhat honest.

Thank you for having the guts to put these ideas to "pen" so to speak and not do what ive seen with literally every content creator out there is doing and slobbing on GW nob for the recycled crap. Enough is enough and i said this when 10th came out. I still love warhammer but haven't moved a inch passed 9th and have no plans to or spent not another red cent and anything GW. But there has been good side effects of this, its giving me time to focus on my own writing and universe building. Something more people should do I think. Make your own thing and stop accepting lazy garbage.

Depending on the price, I may actually get the Blood Angel box ONLY because I want everything in it already. The characters are the only things I might not use (I play Flesh Tearers), but even those are cool enough I might use them as-is in different lists or for kitbash fodder. That being said, I don't get it, I won't lose any sleep.

I think there's a misunderstanding of what safety tools in RPG's relate to here. It isn't about the rules of the game, adversity or anything like that. As you say these are part of the rules systems and if you don't like those go play something else. Safety tools are more used to protect people who have experienced trauma for the DM to avoid roleplaying scenes that will cause harm, such as reference to SA, self deletion but can extend to substance or domestic abuse. Also these should be one on one with the DM. This is especially useful in pick up groups and more common in horror games where things can get pretty dark. Anyway - love your content, keep fighting the good fight.

The tournaments i've been to - the organiser would bring an army and only play if someone dropped out or there wasnt enough numbers - which i think is a pretty good way to do it and normally didnt bring anything meta just a decent enough list to not be a joke

I've got autism and losing is fine, I only get annoyed on 1 of 2 factors 1. the person I'm playing with I just don't like. 2. Something just feels... off... like not being able to do anything in game. I.E. Playing a 40k game on the smaller board in landscape mode. Sucked playing space marines cause the orks just got into melee turn 1... turns out after re-reading the rules we're meant to set that board up in portrait. We were both learning at the time. Since then it's been alot of OPR n enjoying my favourite kind of games, the close kind, where it can swing in either direction till the very end. though I still get salty when someone decides to soup in a fucking high end titan from the titan lords (he added it to saurian starhost) knowing full well that, for the games we're playing, the titans aren't something to be fought but avoided... In a war game... They're the only faction I've looked at with contempt cause their counter genuinely feels like themselves or nothing else.

I had someone try to use safety tools in a campaign I run in person (bare in mind people where warned that one the campaign would be brutal and two I won't stop if you have an issue but you're welcome to step out and I will get you back in once the scene changes. 40k has become a saturday morning csrtoon show. Marines save the day bad huy shakes fist and comes back next time. Lore needs a twist. Models wse, we need the AOas team to have a go as nothing as of late thats came out looks good. Corteaz being the worse of the bunch, it needed uplifting why couldnt they leave it alone

I've seen people argue about this for years now, and I think there are two important things that people need to keep in mind: Most people running events aren't getting paid. (by the store owner, or the game company). While the store itself can organize stuff, its more often than not someone who wanted to do something cool, that is not doing it for money (they would be very silly to do so) Most of the people organizing, scheduling, and doing the grunt work to run an event for a game are doing so because they want to grow the community (and it is a game that they do actually want to play) With all that in mind, yes, it can be a bit odd for an event organizer to play in their own event. But I just mention the other stuff because a lot of people will probably show up for events that won't show up for local game nights, so its on the people who play in the events to do two things: First, just be grateful. Explicitly. Running demos and events takes a lot of work, particularly if they're the person trying to grow the game, and show up day in, day out. Kind of like how the players in a tabletop game should be grateful to their GM with all the roles they take on, players in a tabletop event should be grateful to event organizers. It doesn't have to be anything ridiculous, but it can get lost just how much work anything like that is. Make sure that the event organizer knows how much their efforts are noticed, and appreciated. (If they're doing a decent job, of course, but most of them do). Second, is just do what you want to support the event organizer. It doesn't have to be huge, but it could be something as simple as making sure that the event organizer can get games in if they want to. It's not like they don't want to play.

I hate that I am the issue😂. I've just got a Blackstone set for the 3 agents models featured in the box sets (from a 3rd party seller). I don't even believe i'll be able to get a set when released😥 These days only get a few bits for painting though & don't play anymore; when WFB ended & the way it did really put me off trying to believe in the company so only do a bit of 40k stuff mostly for reminiscing (someone old enough to miss metal models😂). For me, the biggest reason I wouldn't play 40k again is the meta & rules stuff. Yes maybe once a year rules updates in annuals to fix really broke stuff, but this constant change thing NOPE; if you want 'always competitive' work out the rules before you release them, it's not like you don't release a new edition every 3 years anyway. Personally though I just feel competitive just removes the need for any lore or storey at all, GW was never great but previously it did feel like individuals in their mini design and books teams did believe in what they were doing & took pride in their work. This seems missing now.

That's mildly untrue you can't exactly eat everything that you still love to eat if everything you love to eat has an ass load of carbs.

Yup, quitting is the best move. I never understand why you folks play a competitve game but always want to quit or let people win. Play a coop game so you won't get your feelings hurt.

this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but in the time gw units have doubled in price since i got into the hobby so have most other things in the uk, food like fish and chips is all about double the price it was then around 2015, petrol has nearly doubled in price. most things are 50%-100% more expensive in the uk than they were in 2015. so yes it sucks but games workshops quality has improved a lot since the old £20 guardsman squad and the price increases are about in line with inflation in the uk

I used to be 300 lbs and now I'm 155 and in shape, take it from me portion control and 30-60 minutes of physical activity makes a difference. Don't cut out the bad stuff completely and just keep moderation in mind. Also remember, lift for the lift gods

I have seen organizers play in their own tournaments in the following way and thought it was okay. The organizer brought an interesting quirky fun list and only played if there is a bye round say if someone dropped. They would either judge or play the worst performing player so they had a fun game. Obviously they were not in the running for prizes so for them the goal was just a fun game. In that case I think it works out well because the focus is on the enjoyment of the players.

I play Warmachine and sadly the game attracts that kind of player VERY much. It is much more cutthroat and competitive than 40k or even infinity. Was playing against a guy once who was a big time tournament player and I'm not trying to be offensive but very obviously autistic and after every move id do he'd be like "why did you do that? That's not ideal". I think these kinds of players is why the game has slowly died off all the casual friendly people have long since quit. A shame because it is an incredibly fun game when not power gamed.

While GW will never please everyone... I don't think the solution to any of their problems is that hard. Make a set for everyone that pre-orders it. Have two sets of rules: one is "standard" (which is free online), the other is for "Tournaments". Either resculpt or make a new unit for EVERY faction once a year. I would also reduce the MSRP by 15-20%, combat patrols to get people into the hobby would never be more than $100, and make up the profits in volume. And that would all be on day 1.

Ohhh man this is a bad take. Maybe some groups can take it far. But being able to X card my character being SA’ed without having to explain why I’d like this to stop is a useful tool to keep the game moving without stopping the entire thing. I really hope this is click bait.

Portion control! I'm down nearly 20 lbs in a couple of months, mostly by practicing portion control. I do avoid sugar and greasy food, as well, but the simple act of controlling how much you eat works wonders.

Another fun hobby nightmares. It's fun that the whole family plays Warhammer. That second story sounds less like autism and more like being an ass. He's acting like a spoiled man, child. I know autism can be hard, and I don't want to jude too harshly, but as North said, I have known quite a few autistic people, and none of them have ever acted in that fashion at all. I would question if it is really worth it to even play with the guy. Honestly, I wouldn't bother ruining my game time with someone who is so out of control and is not making much effort to not act utterly childish. JC's wife seems to have as many problems as he does.

Speaking from experience with a thyroid issue that was bad enough it basically wasn’t working at all for a while. You absolutely can lose weight. A big part of it is treating the condition and changing your diet. My diet change was simply eating less and cutting out sugary soda, and actually starting to exercise. Over the course of 3ish years it’s resulted in my meds getting halved and losing 60kg (132 lb). Still slowly working down to a more ideal weight, but the change has been stark enough that most people I haven’t seen in a while can’t recognize me and that’s a massive boost in determination. A lot of it comes down to mindset and being determined to improve yourself and your life. It’s possible, I used to be someone who wallowed in self pity at the thought of working towards the changes I’ve now made. There is hope, just got to take the first steps and not turn back.
